Who is "The Omega Man"?
Kind of an intriguing story, and I wonder if there is more to this. Any rumors or theories that go beyond the official information out there?
Maybe this is the guy who made the Japanese bonds, or my nice fake Philharmonics. :111:

Quote:
"The Omega Man" is the name given to a counterfeit coin producer who signed his creations with a minute Greek letter omega in the claw of the eagle on the coin. He is believed to have created over 20,000 fake 1907 ultra high-relief US$20 gold Double Eagle coins worth over $300 Million at today's prices. His forgeries are of such high quality that collectors will still pay upwards of $1,000 for one, compared to a genuine coin's value of about $50,000 to $100,000. The identity of The Omega Man is still unknown.
He also counterfeited other US gold coins, including a large quantity of $3 gold pieces, dated 1874, 1878 and 1882, with the 1882 being the most prevalent. Two of his counterfeit $10 gold pieces, the 1913-P and 1926-P, both have the "Omega" placed upside down within the upper loop of the 'R' of LIBERTY in the Indian's headdress. The quality of all of these counterfeits are extremely high and anyone considering purchasing a US gold coin of these dates should only purchase coins authenticated by one of the major coin grading services.
